My pledge towards Sustainability:
As someone who loves experiencing the earth’s wonder and beauty I am very conscious of the changes that are occurring, and how the earth we are living in today could look quite differently within the next 10, 20, 50 years, so we need to step-up and do what we can to not only sustain but improve the planet for the next generations.
As individuals we all have a small part to play but as businesses we have an even bigger part to play. Here are the steps I have taken to ensure my business is running as sustainably as possible:
Carbon Negative / Climate Positive Shoots - I have calculated my business’s annual Carbon Footprint to be 20-25 tonnes of Co2, and offset 60 tonnes of Co2 per annum by planting 30 trees per month via Carbon Neutral Britain. At the end of each month I will calculate my business’s Co2 and ensure that it has been covered by this subscription, if it hasn’t additional tree’s will be planted.
Recycling - I recycle/reuse all that I can and avoid using single-use plastics.
Batteries - I use rechargeable batteries in all of my photography kit.
Energy - My home and office are supplied by a 100% green energy provider, sourcing their energy from UK based wind, solar, and hydro farms.
Paper - I run my business with very little paper use/waste, all invoices and receipts are sent digitally, I have no need for business cards/flyers, only photo prints that I sell offset the carbon used in the paper production, ink used and transport to the client’s address.
Travel - I try to use public transport where possible, but sometimes with all my kit it is impractical in which case I will use my car/van and offset the carbon emissions.
